US Military Scandal Free Essays

Weber Miscarried University In today’s world a subject that is getting increasingly mainstream by various scandalous embarrassments is that of business morals. With organizations and organizations the same currently understanding that their buyers care about how the tasks work in the organization can influence their business they are getting increasingly mindful of how to run activities morally. In spite of the fact that it is each gathering objective to run designs morally there are as yet numerous cases where they miss the mark regarding this bar, regardless of whether it be a direct result of eager impacts or being ignorant of the laws it is a problem that must be drawn nearer admirably and maneuver carefully. We will compose a custom paper test on US Military Scandal or on the other hand any comparable theme just for you Request Now While most embarrassments include a company or business while filtering the Internet I ran over one that truly grabbed my eye, an outrage inside the US Military about undermining tests, sedate use, and the misusing of rockets. First news broke about this embarrassment toward the beginning of January when the Air Force detailed its open examination of obscure test cheating and outrages including various officials responsible for our nation atomic powers. This ongoing outrage is one that was roughs to consideration after the Air Force was examining a non-related medication embarrassment at 6 different bases. This should come as an incredible worry to all individuals living in the US, for these are the commanders and officials who are liable for controlling the 450 atomic rockets and destiny of our nation. At the point when further investigated it was discovered that 34 officials, all high class lieutenants or skippers, were by one way or another associated with this outrage, some who were either found undermining the month to month capability tests or those that knew about what was happening and didn't report the activities. Along tit these allegations it was clarified via Air Force authorities that two of the speculated officials additionally had relations in regards to unlawful medication use with an official from an air base in Wyoming. Being one of the most organized and hardest pieces of the protection powers to get into the Air Force isn't messing with this circumstance as atomic dispatch officials have no space for mistake taking care of such hazardous and ruinous weapons. ‘The base of this franticness is as yet obscure yet there has been one significant release of an administrator from the Base at Minot in light of the fact that it was seen that there as a â€Å"loss of confidence† in his authority abilities just as the terminating of a leader accountable for preparing rocket teams after countless dispatch officials did inadequately on tests. This isn't the primary embarrassment that the Air Force has looked after an occurrence in 2008 where the past secretary of protection Robert M. Entryways terminated a top general and regular citizen pioneer after a team made a crosscountry Journey uninformed that 6 rockets on board were furnished with atomic warheads. The significant problem in this is these individuals should be the ones we as residents gaze upward to and ensure our nation et when we read news like this it truly upsets our concept of what wellbeing truly is. With such troublesome rules, laws, and necessities unfortunately such an embarrassment would be available in a zone as significant as the assurance and prosperity of the United States as a nation, yet in addition demonstrates that outrages and issues are available in each part of this world regardless of what the current subject. US Defense Secretary Chuck Haggle has not messed with to this circumstance as he clarified that he is â€Å"deeply troubled† by the slue of military outrages as of late (Talisman, 2014). In January while getting completely mindful of the considerable number of issues inside the Air Force and military in general Haggle constrained an audit of tasks which likewise incorporated the Navy. In shear numbers 30 senior teachers have been blamed for sharing answer sheets to atomic capability tests and 1,200 Navy fighters, 200 of which were officials, participated in a drawn out plan including false selecting so as to gather generally $100 million in guaranteed enrolling installments (Talisman, 2014). Hazel’s greatest concern is that none of this is coincidentally and is every one of the a consequence of unscrupulous conduct by individuals in uniform†. He alongside numerous others accept this is an issue that ought to be put on the highest priority on the rundown and needs close consideration and in spite of the fact that it just includes few those in administration it involves trustworthiness that he wishes the powers can keep up paying little mind to those rare sorts of people who defied the law. I felt that this issue was dealt with significantly and will keep on being all through the remainder of the examination. Wrangle comprehends the significance of the prosperity of the nation and won't let this be something that could be the season for our ruin. In spite of the fact that examinations may take over a year to finish I believe the choice of the Secretary of Defense as he made if the main issue to be tended to while with respect to the military. On the off chance that this were the circumstance for an organization or business I imagine that they would have taken care of it precisely the same way, right off the bat be evacuating those that were included or accepted to be engaged with the issue. Second strategy would get down to the base of the issue and finding the source, which were at last the inexactly administered tests reestablished by senior pioneers and lieutenants. In the wake of discovering who was to be faulted for these shortcomings it became apparent that those individuals were to be met tremendously for why they took the course of activities they did. A record seeing this even went similarly as saying that the â€Å"group testing† was seen as â€Å"taking care of each other† and facilitating the weight as the officials felt they required an ideal score on the tests (Burns, 2014). So at long last I think this is being taken care of successfully and that it ought to have been done in no other way. Despite the fact that it is obvious this can impart a ton of dread according to the individuals who live in this extraordinary nation the military needed to make it clear that there was no proof that the ongoing issues lead to misusing of atomic weapons or Jeopardized any residents wellbeing. Following this occasion it will be fascinating to perceive how it advances as the examination proceeds with the talking of numerous officials and those associated with the outrage. Being that the outrage includes atomic weapons I am interested to check whether there will be any new laws or guidelines that will be set up during such vents, for example, tests and testing. Hadrosaurus, the First Identified Duck-Billed Dinosaur

Like many fossil discoveries from the 1800s, Hadrosaurus is simultaneously a very important and a very obscure dinosaur. It was the first near-complete dinosaur fossil  ever to be discovered in North America (in 1858, in Haddonfield, New Jersey, of all places), and in 1868, the Hadrosaurus at the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences was the first dinosaur skeleton ever to be displayed to the general public. Hadrosaurus has also given its name to an extremely populous family of herbivores—the hadrosaurs, or duck-billed dinosaurs. Celebrating this history, New Jersey named Hadrosaurus its official state dinosaur in 1991, and the sturdy lizard is frequently invoked in attempts to pump up the Garden States paleontology pride. What  Was Hadrosaurus Really Like? This was a robustly built dinosaur, measuring about 30 feet from head to tail and weighing anywhere from three to four tons, and it probably spent most of its time crouched on all fours, chomping on the low-lying vegetation of its late Cretaceous habitat in North America. Like other duck-billed dinosaurs, Hadrosaurus would have been capable of rearing up on its two hind legs and running away when startled by hungry tyrannosaurs, which must have been a stressful experience for any smaller dinosaurs lurking nearby!  This dinosaur almost certainly lived in small herds, females laying 15 to 20 large eggs at a time in circular patterns, and the adults may even have engaged in a minimal level of parental care.  (However, bear in mind that the bill of Hadrosaurus and other dinosaurs like it wasnt really flat and yellow, like that of a duck, but it did have a vague resemblance.) Still, as far as duck-billed dinosaurs in general are concerned, Hadrosaurus itself occupies the far fringes of paleontology. To date, no one has discovered this dinosaurs skull; the original  fossil, named by the famous American paleontologist Joseph Leidy, consists of four limbs, a pelvis, bits of the jaw, and over two dozen vertebrae. For this reason, recreations of Hadrosaurus are based on the skulls of similar genera of duck-billed dinosaurs, such as Gryposaurus. To date, Hadrosaurus appears to be the only member of its genus (the sole named species is H. foulkii), leading some paleontologists to speculate that this hadrosaur may really be a species (or specimen) of another genus of duck-billed dinosaur.   Given all this uncertainty, it has proven rather difficult to assign Hadrosaurus to its proper place on the hadrosaur family tree. This dinosaur was once honored with its own sub-family, the Hadrosaurinae, to which better-known (and more highly ornamented) duck-billed dinosaurs like Lambeosaurus were once assigned. Today, though, Hadrosaurus occupies a single, lonely branch on evolutionary diagrams, one step removed from such familiar genera as Maiasaura, Edmontosaurus and Shantungosaurus, and today not many paleontologists reference this dinosaur in their publications. Name: Hadrosaurus (Greek for sturdy lizard); pronounced HAY-dro-SORE-us Habitat: Woodlands of North America Historical Period: Late Cretaceous (80-75 million years ago) Size and Weight: About 30 feet long and 3-4 tons Diet: Plants Distinguishing Characteristics: Large size; broad, flat beak; occasional bipedal posture

Gender And Social Construction Of Gender - 1230 Words

‘Gender’ is a category used by all human beings to describe the state of being either male or female. Gender is often described as socially constructed which implies that it is something individuals may not be aware of. Through the social construction of a concept, meanings are created. These meanings and understandings are developed in coordination with other individuals rather than within individuals themselves. Because all societies are different, the social construction and therefore definitions of gender are not fixed and hence vary. Gender is very much a lived experience and relates to the ideas we develop to make sense of men and women in relation to each other, as they change and develop. It is also argued that gender is politically deployed. Gender as a term itself is bound up with power relations. It influences every aspect of personal lives and is also integrated within institutions, which themselves can be gendered. Gender as a concept was previously uncontes ted, seen as unproblematic and was self-evident. Second Wave Feminism was the impetus for the questioning of patriarchal assumptions of dominant social theory, bringing gender relationships to the fore. Biologists and social scientists have started to study the categories of ‘male’ and ‘female’ more closely because they have found that not everyone fits neatly into one or the other, as previously assumed (Fausto-Sterling 1985). Communication and Intersection between Human Mind and Skin

One of the most complex and multifaceted interactions in the human body is the communication and intersection between the human mind and skin. Psychodermatology focuses on these interactions and attempts to bridge the two entities into a cohesive model. One of the dermatologic manifestations of psychiatric disease is observed in trichotillomania. Tricotillomania remains one of the lesser researched areas in psychiatry. Many theories and potential treatments exist, yet conclusive and well-constructed studies are still lacking. Much of the core understanding of trichotillomania stems from very few studies and anecdotal evidence. The mind and skin are connected in a multitude of ways. The most obvious is that they both originate from the same ectodermal origin. As such, they both are often affected by similar hormones and neurotransmitters . This concept helps explain the 30% to 60% incidence of psychiatric disorders in dermatological patients . Physiologically, the skin and mind are in tertwined by the combined actions of the neural, endocrine, immune, and cutaneous systems. Studies have shown that many dermatological pathologies may stem from psychological stress causing a disruption in the epidermal permeability barrier homeostasis . Yet, many dermatological patients are hesitant to pursue dual treatment for psychocutaneous disorders. In fact, many dermatologists confirmed to need for psychiatric consultation, especially when treating chronic diseases3. Knowledge Management and Ecommerce †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Knowledge Management and Ecommerce. Answer: Introduction: Knowledge management and ecommerce play crucial roles in enhancement of the business practices and improve its contextual factors like internal environment and organisational factors. Knowledge management refers to acquiring, preserving, using and sharing business data to conduct business with the help of modern technology like cloud computing. Ecommerce refers to use of digital platform to advertise and sell products which allows companies to offer goods to a global consumer base and earn huge profit. New entrepreneurial ventures like small hotels come under the influence of various factors like political and economical while operating in the market. They face threats from strong competitors like established hotel chains and new local hotel chains of the same size. These risks to budding hotel businesses have made it important for them to use knowledge management system(KMS) and ecommerce to conduct business on regular basis. They help budding business organisations like the hotel a nd catering business in Sydney to gain and maintain loyal consumer base. This loyal consumer base generates repeated business for these hotels and encourages them to expand further. The new hotel and catering business in Sydney would knowledge management system to manage its huge amount of data and use it efficiently to operate the business. The new hotel organisation will be impacted by a number of external factors like political, economical and legal(Knif, Kolari Pynnnen, 2014). These factors will affect its business operations deeply but the hotel will have no control over these factors. The new business organisation in order to thrive the competitive hotel industry will have to incorporate these macroeconomic factors in its business strategies. Knowledge management would help the business organisation to acquire, store and utilise the vast body of knowledge and gain access to it easily while making strategies(Sein-Echaluce veta l., 2013). For example, the organisation using KMS can keep a track on the new laws levied on the hotel organisations. This would allow it to incorporate these new laws and avoid penal actions from the various government departments. Thus knowledge mangemnt can help the new business organisation acquire vast knowledge about the external environment and apply the data by incorporating it in its strategies. Thus, KMS can help new business organisations to adapt to their environment faster. This adaptability with the external environment help the business organisations to enforce stronger organisational culture within their business contexts(Krajewski, Ritzman Malhotra, 2013). Knowledge management can be instrumental in helping the new hotel business acquire and retain a vast data about customers which help the business generate repeat business. The new hotel business in Sydney should aim at attracting huge numbers of customer right from its budding stage. It should offer fooding and lodging services to its guests at affordable rates to counteract the threats from the established hotel chains. KMS would allow the new hotel chain to acquire and save a vast amount of data about these customers like their lifestyle, occupation, lifestyle and preferences(Shaw, 2016). The hotel organisation can use this crucial data while forming future marketing plan. For example, the hotel management may use the data regarding room designer preferences of customers during restructuring the layout of the hotel or during making a new hotel. This structuring of facilities keeping the customers preferences into consideration will help the hotel chain attract more customers. Moreo ver it can give special offers and discounts to its old customers. This treatment of the customers will enhance customer satisfaction and yield the hotel chain loyal customer base who would give it repeat business. This generation of revenue both from existing and new customers which would generate huge revenue(Rahimi Kozak, 2017). Thus knowledge management can help the new hotel business to maintain data about customers and provide them customised offers to enhance their satisfaction and obtain their loyalty. Knowledge management will help the new hotel and catering business in Sydney to acquire, manage and use business data more effectively. Hotel organisations irrespective of their sizes need to work with a large numbers of suppliers who supply them with raw materials. These organisations need to maintain large data on financial transactions, sources of financial capital and other relevant data for the internal usage while operating and decision making. Maintaining this vast amount of crucial data in physical formats would be very expensive and add to their cost of operations. It would erode their financial resources and occupy a lot of storage space. Knowledge Management makes acquisition and usage of enormous amount of business data possible virtually anytime and anywhere(Liebowitz Frank, 2016). This enhanced availability of scientifically managed data has made decision making more appropriate and business environment or context. Ecommerce like knowledge management has added value to the newly established hotel in Sydney and its business development. The hotel industry in Australia is extremely competitive with strong presence of both Australian indigenous hotels and international chains of hotels. This intense competition has made it very risky and challenging to sustain in the market. The hotel industry can use ecommerce websites to promote its catering and lodging services. It can partner with ecommerce hotel booking websites to advertise its rooms, their rates and facilities to a global base of consumers(Asadi, Abrifam Mohamadzadeh, 2014). This collaboration helps the hotel organisation in Sydney earn new customers who may attracted by the facilities and the rates. Thus, ecommerce allows the hotel organisations partner with travelling organisations to advertise their rooms to attract a global base of consumer. Ecommerce enables the new organisations to achieve product differentiation which is very important to gain high position in the market. The hotel market of Australia is extremely competitive and profitable. This has attracted a large number of hotel groups and home grown hotels. Today in order to exist in the competitive markets hotels are required to attain product differentiation to make their hotel services distinct from their competitors and attract more customers. The hotel chain can advertise the salient features of its products like rooms, facilities, layout and rates to attract consumers. The revenue earned due to differentiation can be used to bring about restructuring of organisation to elevate contextual factors like organisational culture and organisational goals (Wang, Cavusoglu Deng, 2016). Thus, ecommerce can help companies to gain product differentiation and earn huge revenue by providing customer service which teh customers perceive as unique. Ecommerce will help the business hotel organisations earn high profits by advertising before a global base of customers. The small hotel in Sydney would be able to advertise its facilities like room and tasty food on ecommerce websites. This would attract a large number of consumers and help the hotel to earn high revenue(Lu, Gursoy Lu, 2016). Ecommerce will not only help the hotels especially the new ones to earn more revenue but also to manage their business risks. The advertisement of the hotel and catering facilities on ecommerce platform would allow the new hotel in Sydney to showcase its facilities before a global base of customers. This would earn the hotel new customers and enormous revenue. This revenue can provide platform to the new hotel organisation to diversify its business risks(Chiu et al., 2014). Moreover, the organisations in order to sustain in the stiff competition have to bear huge initial investment in areas of knowledge management and advertising its products on the ecommerce websites. The huge body of profits earned by the new hotel company in Sydney provides a substratum where the business can diversify its business risk and uncertainty. Ecommerce helps the newly formed business find new markets to sell their products. When organisations advertise their products before a global consumer base, it opens ways for business expansion. The hotel chain using the ratings on ecommerce website are able to assess their market image. Strong image available on the websites show growing demands of the hotel amnong new customer base. This growing demand encourage the hotel organisation encourage it to expand overseas. Thus, ecommerce helps hotel organisations to find new markets and expand overseas. Moreover, the new hotel businesses can use to ecommerce platforms to find suppliers of raw materials(Ahmad et al., 2015). It can be concluded that knowledge management and ecommerce are very useful to new hotel businesses in Sydney. Knowledge management help these organisations to acquire, maintain and use a large volume of data to allow appropriate decision making. Ecommerce helps the hotels to advertise their facilities before a global base of consumers to attract a large number of visitors. Since each of the projects is different in the nature thus PMP will differ from one of the project to other. For illustrating the project content, PMP will serve as the guide. It will outline each member roles and responsibilities that is participating in project. Project plan will get crated with aim of creating two of the applications that are intended for supporting the children with the skills of learning on languages and mathematics. One application will intended to support children with the languages and math, the other application intended to support children with the abilities that are learning. The project manager details will embrace the PMP and members of the team, deliverables lists, reference materials list, acronym and definitions list, organizational chart description, roles and responsibilities of project and some used data along with technical and management pro cedures, work done with the help of budget and schedule. All these details are using PMP that is there in book by Schwalbe 2010, (pp. 151-154) as the guide for building and preparing. Name of the project Development project for Music application Description of Project The projects include the two applications development ti support and improve the mathematical abilities of the children. Every application will intend for using the music as the way to support children to be good at languages and math. This music application development is further divided into the two phases. One phase is only for helping the children for enhancing the abilities related to mathematics. The second phase is dedicated with the specific app to the children which are having some disabilities. As there is involvement of application it will do enhancements and face testing. The budget for this project is set to be $700,000 and this becomes the high priority project. The expectation for delivery and completion of this project is in time of 6 months. The Circular Ruins

‘The Circular ruins’ is a short story written by Jorge Luis Borges about a wizard who moves away from humanity to the circular ruins, an isolated location which is considered to hold magical power. The wizard is motivated to create a human being and he intends to do so by dreaming up the human.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Circular Ruins specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More To do so, the wizard starts sleeping and dreaming for prolonged periods on a daily basis where he imagines a young man who gradually gains wisdom and knowledge. Soon, the wizard begins to lose sleep to the point where he can no longer dream of the young man. The wizard therefore declares the first endeavor to create a human as a failure and decides to try again. After several attempts, he finally falls asleep where he initially dreams of an indistinct form which gradually becomes a clear image of a heart in subsequent nights. T he wizard continues to give detail to his young man form for many years until finally he feels that the form is complete upon which he requests the god Fire to give life to the form. Fire agrees and the form finally becomes just like a human and is sent to the real world to work in a secluded temple of the god Fire. Since the creation is not human, it is able to do astonishing deeds like walking through fire and on hot coal without being burnt. The creation becomes famous so much so that the wizard learns of these achievements and decides to visit the creation. When he arrives, the wizard walks into the flaming house of Fire and become aware of the fact that just like his creation, he too is not burnt by fire and realizes that he is also a creation of another dreamer. Discussion Jorge Luis Borges in ‘The Circular ruins’ articulates the prospect that reality is superlative, hence the conscious mind controls all the matter around it. The story takes an idealist approach t o realism by suggesting that ideas are just as powerful as reality. For instance, the idea of a rock is just as real as a material rock to a material person to a mind that identifies the idealized rock as real (Costa 78). The deeper meaning could therefore be that the mind has the power to expand and compress reality hence if the mind is incapable of connecting with reality more than what it is familiar with, what the mind then recognizes is the only pertinent reality (Bronstein 647). The wizard in ‘The Circular Ruins’ lives in the reality of ordinary men before he relocates to the ruins and he is regarded by others and views himself as a normal man (Asma 6). The wizard goes ahead to imagine another person only to realize later that he too is an idea.Advertising Looking for essay on literature languages? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Borges here implies that our existence as human beings could also be the thoug hts of a more powerful being and since we have no way of knowing, authority has to come from the being that allows us to understand our existence(Costa 81). Consequently, no one is completely certain that their reality including their mind and ideas is not just another person’s imagination which would make their imagination reality (Bronstein 654). In conventional and modern cosmology, dreams play a major role in enhancing communication between the conscious and subconscious mind as well as bridges the gap between the dream and the dreamer (Hagar 3). The meaning of the dream could be that the wizard was subconsciously longing for a son or a new invention (Asma 9). It is also possible that the wizard was indeed a dream which would mean that the dreamer was neither focused nor was he actually committed to his intentions though the Ego was willing(Hagar 4). The god Fire is of the essence in the rule of anatomy because he is the one that consequently forms reality out of the wiza rd’s imagination (Bronstein 659). However, it is in his second attempt that he is able to successfully create an individual through a more thorough and detailed process from the first (Asma 10). According to Hagar, the anatomy of the final creation has various meanings and interpretations the most profound being the importance of time in doing anything worthwhile (6). The first creation is created rather quickly when compared to the second being meaning some crucial aspects might have been overlooked. In addition, the detailed amalgamation of the second being perpetuates the meaning that carefully collected thoughts are potent and more likely to generate the expected results (Costa 85). One major advantage that this short story has over conventional philosophic prose is the ability of the author to connect emotionally with the reader. In doing so, cavernous meanings can be drawn from the dreams at both an anatomy and cosmology levels as well as form an idealistic state of min d (Asma 12). It is however apparent that the author meant for the reader to question his environment as well as his thoughts in order to ultimately understand his reality, identity and existence. If the debate is well planned, has good sound file material, is delivered in a way that makes sense, and uses the greatest source of information that is available, you will not have too many problems when it comes to coming up with a good argument. Of course, if you are unsure of how to structure an argument, there are tons of sites on the Internet that can help you construct a well-written argum ent.In terms of college essays, how much of the question and answer type of essay would you have to do? We all know that essays are to be written in a format that allows the reader to take something from it and learn something from it. The more interactivity there is between the writer and the reader, the more the assignment will be properly done. Students are basically in the writing and not taking notes so they would naturally want to take part in the writing process and hence there is more of a chance for them to learn something. There are a lot of topics that can be used as argumentative essay topics but they are pretty much split into two categories. You can choose between debate topics and topic based essay topics. When it comes to arguing, you will have to decide whether to use some kind of detailed analysis, or a detailed summary, or the argumentative argument itself, as the topic of your argumentative essay topics. When dealing with details, most of the time it is better to d o this in a lengthy manner so that the reader can make out the difference in the arguments. If you can keep to a minimum of 500 words, you will have a very good argument. That is why most essay writers do not use complex length of argumentative essay topics. This is because there is no way that the reader is going to take in the entire thing without making any kind of distinction between the arguments. Most of the time the facts that you have, you may not have made the connection to each other in the body of the essay. If the essay is to be on the history of the universe, then the topics could be the history of science and explanation of some very important facts of the universe and the laws of physics. Or if the essay is going to be on Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, then the topic could be the themes of the play itself, especially since it was written after the Italian Renaissance, the era of art and poetry, which includes many of the great artworks in Europe at that time.In a college debate or large university setting, the rules are relatively more simple. The most commonly used, and therefore, the most common topic is of course the topic of debate itself.

MHE512 Disaster Relief Module 2 SLP Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

MHE512 Disaster Relief Module 2 SLP - Essay Example This state of affairs culminated in the impeachment and subsequent resignation of President Joseph Estrada in 2002, a popular figure for the masses. Succeeding him was then Vice President Gloria Arroyo who was subjected to questions of legitimacy and yearly impeachment complaints until she was officially elected in the 2004 national presidential race. The impeachment did not stop and became an annual affair with complainants rushing to be the first to file. Military and police authorities are also embroiled in the political struggle and many of them have attempted to overthrow the civilian government. (Balisacan, 2004) Corruption is also rampant in the poverty-stricken rural regions as political leaders swindle local public treasury coffers. Many projects are padded and made to appear very expensive when there was minimal expense or no projects at all implemented. Transparency International, an agency devoted to rooting out corruption, conducted a Corruption Perceptions Index for 99 countries and found that in a scale of 1 (high perception of corruption) to 10 (low corruption perception), the Philippine respondents ranked 3.6 in the index. 72% of the sampled population also believes that public officials are inherently corrupt. Philippines ranked as the 55th least corrupt out of the 99 countries surveyed. Nepotism is also very rampant and many positions in the government are filled with relatives and political allies. Patronage politics is extremely prevalent as patrons are important support systems during elections. Thus, one can find many positions in the government occupied by sons, campaign managers and other supporters. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is even guilty when he appointed his son, a Congressman, in charge of the National Disaster Council. (Benson, 2005) Economic Philippine economy is an example of a mixed economy as the formerly agrarian country is now experiencing milestones in industrialization. The Republic of the Philippines is now a major exporter of garments, semi-conductors, pharmaceutical products and electronic devices and equipment. Mining is also a big industry as the country is endowed with rich minerals and other natural resources. Many Filipinos are now working abroad as nurses, engineers and household assistants. Their remittances are now the single largest contributor in the economy spurring growth and investment. (Benson, 2005) There is an imbalance of imports and exports with the former outweighing the other. Heavy reliance on imports is also increasing the exposure of the economy to international downturns. With the global recession, the Philippine peso devaluated leading to a multiple-fold increase in international currency debts and shrinking of capital value. Heavy reliance in remittances has proven to be catastrophic as the global recession forced many countries to stop construction developments and send home its international workforce, majority of which are Filipinos. Many expatriates now in the Philippines find themselves with no income opportunities and a depleted savings account. (UNICEF, 2005) Health Since 23% of the population is below the poverty line, many areas in the Philippines

Loss of Biodiversity Due to Pollution Research Paper

Loss of Biodiversity Due to Pollution - Research Paper Example The Gulf of Mexico is opulent in biodiversity and exceptional habitats, and hosts the solitary recognized nesting shoreline of Kemp’s Ridley, the world’s rare sea turtle. It has an interesting circulation array which stretches it organic and socioeconomic significance; water from the Caribbean come into commencing the south over the Yucatan Channel amid Cuba and Mexico and, after warming up in the basin, goes out over the northern Florida Canal amid the United States and Cuba to produce the Gulf River in the North Atlantic that assists to standardize the macroclimate of the western Europe. Creeks and bays are public along Gulf seashores with other reefs, sea grasses, and coastal wetlands, principally Spartina alterniflora, usual in the north, and certain oyster’s ridges, native to national sea greenswards, and mangrove forests in the south. Off shore, coral ridges are conjoint in several areas in the southern Gulf, alongside northwest Cuba, beside Florida Keys, and one district off Texas. Creatures that call Gulf of Mexico home vary from infinitesimal to gigantic. (Day, 2013). Gulf Oil Spill Gulf oil spill is acknowledged as the nastiest spill in the account of United States. Inhabitants from the Gulf of Mexico echo that, tallies of fish, mantra rays, sharks, dolphins and sea turtles are escaping the spirals of oil and cleaners to the trivial waters off the coasts of Alabama and Florida. Marine biologists suggest that these animals feel the adjustment in water chemistry and attempt to drip the polluted water dead zones by swimming in the direction of the oxygen rich shallows (National Research Council, 2012). Immediate Impact Under normal Gulf season, death is expected during laying and nesting period (Marion, 2011). The oil spills instantaneously endangered brown pelican, the egrets, the laughing gulls and other shore and migrant birds, beached with greased fuzz as they strained to rear their young nestlings. Their fledglings faced and still face an indeterminate future, as they begin their expedition on infested water. Dead and vanishing sea creatures still attempt to leak from the oxygen depreciated water, because of methane gas from the oil, which depletes oxygen at a very high speed, as illustrated in the pictures below (Benn & Bolton, 2011). Physical Effects Physical effects comprise of demise by asphyxia, with oil hindering air openings or gills. By numbing sensual organs, oil upsets creatures’ ability to discover food or sense predators. Many birds and other inhabitants succumbed to death as a consequence of hypothermia, bec ause oil led to lessening of the protecting effect of plumages and fur. Since the oil spill, crabs have been documented hiking out of water, as a toxic gleam approaches the shoreline. During morning hours, they are observed floating stomach up in the water, in a bid to get more oxygen. Nevertheless, the air they inhale is loaded with chemicals blowing up from the water (National Research Council, 2012). Impact of the oil spill on coral reefs presents unique physical conditions. This is because healthy coral reefs are amongst the most organically assorted and economically treasured ecologies on earth, providing vital ecosystem services. They are a foundation of nourishment for millions, guard seashores from storms and corrosion, offer habitation, procreating and nursery lands for economically essential fish species, offer businesses and revenue to local economies from angling, leisure, and tourism, are a basis of treatments, and hotspots for aquatic multiplicity. Immediate spill resu lted to death of some corals, leading to subsequent smothering and sinking of them. Over time, reduction of photosynthesis, development and reproduction has been documented. Regardless of this, the extent of coral reef damage unswervingly attributable to the Gulf Spill has remained unusually minor (Marion, 2011). Toxic effects Skin ulcerations, destruction to the spleen, liver, lungs and

Time and Happiness Essay Example for Free

Time and Happiness Essay Good morning everyone. The topic I have chosen is WHAT IS HAPPINESS. Nowadays, many people think money can buy happiness so that they will work over ten hours to earn more money. They think that if we are rich then, we can do anything such as buy a fat dog, a big house, a grand car or many luxurious things LV bag, DOIR shoe and so on. It cannot be denied that material life is happiness because you can buy the things you want but I think material life can only give me happiness for a short period of time which is external happiness. I think cultural life can give you a long term happiness and this is happiness from heart. There are three simple ways of gaining happiness that I would like to mention about. First of all, good relationship with friends and family are the main points to become happiness. The reason is I can get more love and sense of care from them . When I feel unhappy or I am in a problem, they are the ones who help me solve the problem and give me support all the time. Although they have never tried to make me happy by buying me some expensive things such as i-phone, i-pad, I can never doubt in their support and love for me†¦and that feeling is what makes me happy. Therefore, I love my family and friends and I am very proud to say that I have a very good relationship with them. The next point that I want to focus on is my dream because self-realization can let me gain pursuit of eternal value. I have some small goals as well as some big, I will never let go of these dreams that I have been dreaming of.. In spite of all the difficulties that I will have to face during this phase, I will try my best to enjoy them and tackle them because these steps can let me know and learn how to be mature and independent. Therefore, the pursuit of eternal value will be eternal happiness. The last thing that gives me happiness is helping the needy people. The reason is I can get more meaningful and wonderful time in my busy life. Undeniably, volunteer can not earn money or waste time but I do not think so. When I help the needy people, I will earn more naive and satisfaction in their possession. And I think, for me this is happiness†¦Getting to help others and doing some good deeds To conclude, good relationship of friendship and family, achieving my dream and helping others are the main three points that gives me the exact meaning of happiness. These things not only give me a long term happiness , but also gives me the satisfaction and the feeling of happiness from heart. You see, these are not the material things. I can say the simple cultural life is happiness in my heart because I know ‘Happy is he who is content’. I hope that you can find the right meaning of happiness in Your Life. Thank You!

Analysis Of O. Henrys art And The Bronco :: essays research papers

Art and the Bronco summary O. Henry’s "Art and the Bronco" tells the story of Lonny Briscoe, a cowboy who is also an aspiring artist. It follows his quest to sell his first painting to the state legislature; to have it hung in the capital building. Lonny sees the sale of the painting as validation of his talent and worth as a painter. What he ends up learning is that the actual value of the painting turns out to be secondary to what other feel they can gain from it. The story takes place in San Saba, a place trying to shed its image of "†¦barbarism, lawbreaking, and bloodshed." It presents itself as a much more refined place now, one which is now safe for tourism and business. The Legislature was lending subsidy to the arts to enhance this image. Lonny’s painting is hanging in the capital building. It is a large painting "†¦one might even say panorama," depicting a cowboy and steer, hung in a gilt frame. At the capital, we are introduced to senators Kinney and Mullens, who only care about getting what they want from each other and getting re-elected. They see Lonny’s painting as a means to both ends. In the beginning, Kinney sees nothing of value in Lonny’s picture. In fact, he implies that it is awful, saying that he "†¦wouldn’t give six bits for the picture without the frame." Mullens agrees with Kinney’s assessment of the painting. He says that the painting is secondary to the artist—the grandson of Lucien Briscoe, a legendary local hero who is said to have "†¦carved the state out of the wilderness." The painting quickly fades to the background as both the senators see that pushing the state to give this hero’s grandson money is a quick way to gain public favor. Lonny’s cowboy friends ride into town to push the paintings merits as well, adding their admiration for the gilt frame, so big and beautiful. They are very simple and undereducated, as evidenced by Skinny Rogers’ act of leaping away from the painting yelling "†¦Jeeming Cristopher! Thought that rattler was a gin-u-ine one," and are not as concerned about the merits of the painting as they are with the idea of one of their own getting money for it. They always speak loudly when they think there might be someone around to whom their comments might be "†¦profitably addressed."

Eastern religion Essay

Transcendentalism denotes an abstract thought composed of several layers of meaning. The Oxford Companion to Philosophy states, â€Å"Transcendentalism is belief in the existence of things that transcend sense-experience, or more reflectively, belief in the possibility of transcendent metaphysics† (pp-878).   In the religious sense, it can be defined as the quest for reality through spiritual intuition and/or those qualities unique to the creator of all natural things (God). There are many transcendental traits of available in the Upanishads, the Vedas, the Gita and remarkable contribution of great persons like Maharishi ji, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.   Lord Krishna reveals transcendental knowledge in Bhagwat Gita as under. Transcendental knowledge – the spiritual knowledge of the soul, of God, and of their relationship is both purifying and liberating. Such knowledge is the fruit of selfless devotional action (karma-yoga) (Bhagawat Gita, chapter 13 to 15). 1) Lord Chaitanya instructed the mass of people in the Sankhya philosophy of acintya-bhedabheda-tattva, which maintains that the Supreme Lord is simultaneously one with and different from His creation. Lord Chaitanya taught this philosophy through the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. He taught that the holy name of the Lord is the sound incarnation of the Lord and that since he Lord is the absolute whole, there is no difference between His holy name and His transcendental form. Thus by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can directly associate with the Supreme Lord by sound vibration. As one practices this sound vibration, he passes through three stages of development: the offensive stage, the clearing stage and the transcendental stage. In the offensive stage one may desire all kinds of material happiness, but in the second stage one becomes clear of all material contamination. When one is situated on the transcendental stage, he attains the most coveted position – the stage of loving God. Lord Chaitanya taught that this is the highest stage of perfection for human beings. 2) Maharishiji contributed a great Transdental meditation tequenique. The Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique is a simple, natural, effortless procedure whereby the mind easily and naturally arrives at the source of thought, the settled state of the mind — Transcendental Consciousness — pure consciousness, self-referral consciousness, which is the source of all creative processes. Transcendental meditation technique, the individual’s awareness settles down and experiences a unique state of restful alertness. As the body becomes deeply relaxed, the mind transcends all mental activity to experience the simplest form of awareness, Transcendental Consciousness, where consciousness is open to itself. This is the self-referral state of consciousness. The experience of Transcendental Consciousness develops the individual’s latent creative potential while dissolving accumulated stress and fatigue through the deep rest gained during the practice.
